Beneath The Ice

by Samana on FatCat Records

To mark their signing to FatCat Records, Samana have shared the video to their debut track, Beneath The Ice.

Talking about the track, the duo of multi-instrumentalist and producer Franklin Mockett and award winning photographer Rebecca Rose Harris said:

This song is an ode to the moulting cycle of the poet, to the expansion of solitude, to the twilight that one lives inside, between the silence of stillness and movement.

Samana inhabit a musical space somewhere between Nick Cave, Mazzy Star, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Nick Drake, Bill Callahan and Sigur Ros, yet they possess a unique spirit born out of their nomadic existence which saw them embark on a year long trip around Europe living and writing on the road.

On their return to the U.K. they took up residence in a farmhouse in the Brecon Beacons where they built ‘The Road Records”, an analogue studio and darkroom where the duo create all their work and where the musical ideas born on their trip were realised and came into fruition.

Startlingly engaging and intense live performers, the pair and their band most recently played a handful of acclaimed shows at this year’s Great Escape Festival, including a hypnotic performance at the One Church.

Further live shows and details of their debut album will be announced shortly.
