Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch mixtape for The Ransom Note

Posted on Monday, 9th July

French pianist / composer Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch has made a mixtape for The Ransom Note's 'Monday Is OK' mixtape series, ahead of the release of her new album this Friday. Entitled 'Uneasy Listening', the mix is described by Emilie as "a selection of music which I have been listening to a lot over the past few months. It blurs the line between acoustically and electronically generated sounds in a way that is always beautiful and emotionally charged, but demands the listener's attention. Ranging from manipulated cellos (with Michael Gordon's Industry, Lucy Railton and Oliver Coates) to Colin Stetson layered saxophone and electronic producers who collaborate with classical ensembles, the mix also visits texts of Sappho and the sound world of Ursula K. Le Guin, Scott Walker's daring, centre stage cue taken from his soundtrack for The Childhood of a Leader, as well as the softer side of Pan Daijing, an artist whose incredible live performances shouldn't be missed."

The tracklist is below and you can read the Ransom Note feature / listen to Emilie's mixtape here

1. Michael Gordon - Industry
2. Scott Walker - Opening
3. Pan Daijing - Zhao Hua
4. Colin Stetson - Spindrift
5. Ursula K. Le Guin & Todd Barton - A Music of the Eighth House
6. Lucy Railton - The Critical Rush
7. Actress x London Contemporary Orchestra - Audio Track 5
8. Oliver Coates - Memorial to Hitchens
9. Stephen Crowe - Sappho Song
10. Vessel - Red Sex
